Mildred Coby

Director of Community Engagement & agency impact, employ Milwaukee, INC.

Mildred Coby’s thirst for knowledge and equality for all people has been a driving force throughout her career. Her determination and passion to serve youth, keeps her contributing her expertise and time to improve education access, and outcomes. As the Director of Community Engagement & Agency Impact at Employ Milwaukee, Inc., she gets to pour into others and quench her thirst at the same time. Mildred has shown up in the greater Milwaukee community as a teacher, guidance counselor, program manager, community organizer, all-around advocate, and mentor for children with learning disabilities and social barriers. 

Mildred founded “There is Hope”, an organization that has provided aid to more than 1,000 single parents. Moreover, she also founded “YL I A and Achievement Program, Inc., which served Milwaukee Public School students.  This initiative was fueled by Mildred’s development of a similar program that included student mentoring, exploring career pathways, job readiness, soft skills and support for parents.  The original project, implemented at one of the most at-risk schools in Milwaukee, was the model for the above-mentioned program for female students and served more than 500 students. Without a doubt, Mildred understands the need to uplift and mentor today’s youth – which will have a significant impact upon not only their future but the future of America as well.

Mildred is well known and respected as a dynamic community organizer and supporter of a myriad of causes. She has developed and planned impact-based curriculum for conferences nationwide. Additionally, she is a sought-after presenter for staff development programs.  

Mildred serves or touches on a network of more than one hundred government, community, and faith-based organizations on a near monthly basis. This network includes the Continuum of Care with the City of Milwaukee, as an Executive Board Member); Community Brain Storming, Inc. as VP, Executive Board Member; The Vel R. Phillips Taskforce & Foundation as Executive Board Member; Board Member of the Dane County, WI – Boys and Girls Club, as well as various faith-based organizations. 

Mildred is also the author of Don’t Settle for the Crumbs, a self-help guide for those who need a push forward while starting over.
