What is FlexRide Milwaukee?

FlexRide is an on demand service that takes riders from the city of Milwaukee directly to job sites in suburban locations. Think of it as a cross between an Uber/Lyft service and a traditional bus route. Riders call for rides from their phones, but often share rides with others and are picked up from “virtual stops” near their homes.

What is MobiliSE’s Role?

MobiliSE helped secure the initial funding for the pilot, and has led efforts to sustain and grow the program through additional funding. In 2023, MobiliSE took over operations of FlexRide Milwaukee, under a contract with Via, a global on demand transportation company, who operates the day to day service.

How is FlexRide Funded?

FlexRide is the product of a unique public private partnership. A combination of state and local private funds, rider fares, and private philanthropy, sustains the service.
